New machines are built according to the essential safety and health requirements of the European Machine Directive 2006/42/CE.
The road to that conformity is not always easy. A CE process must be completed before the machine can be placed on the EU market.
Once the machine is put on the market, it becomes a work tool for the employer who makes it available to his employees.

That employer must in turn be sure that the work equipment can be used safely and must regularly check this by an internal or external prevention service in accordance with the European Work Equipment Directive 2009/104/EC.
