What is ATEX certification?
Devices and equipment used in explosive atmospheres are extensively regulated by an ATEX classification. They receive their certification through rigorous testing that determines whether they are suitable for safe use within the European Union.

ATEX zones contain classifications for environments where flammable gases or dust are constantly, intermittently or infrequently present in the air.
Under ATEX, two other guidelines dictate what is and is not permitted in atmospheres that could be explosive. These relate to the manufacture of equipment (2014/34/EU or ATEX 114) and the protection of workers exposed to explosive atmospheres (1999/92/EC or ATEX 153).

What is IECEx-certification?
IECEx certifications are another comprehensive method to ensure safe equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres.

When a product is classified as IECEx compliant, it is certified by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) for Explosive Atmospheres.
The IEC regulations are considered the international standard for electrical technology, making an IECEx rating a high level of performance worldwide.
